New Delhi: Music streaming giant Spotify on Thursday finally started rolling out its real-time Lyrics feature globally that was initially introduced in 26 markets, including India in June 2020. The real-time lyrics feature will be available on iOS, Android, TVs, gaming consoles and desktops for both premium and free users.
"Let’s say it plain and simple: It’s easier to jam out to your latest favorite song when you know the words. That’s why, beginning today, Spotify is empowering millions of fans around the world to sing louder and more confidently than ever with the launch of Lyrics," the company said in a statement late on Thursday.
According to Spotify, Lyrics are one of the most requested features from listeners globally. The Lyrics feature will be available across Playstation 4, Playstation 5, and XBox One, along with Android TV, including FireTV, Samsung, Roku, LG, Sky and Comcast.
"So after iterating and testing, we’ve created an experience that’s simple and interactive -- and even shareable. By partnering with Musixmatch, we’re bringing song lyrics to life through in-app access across the majority of our extensive library of tracks," the Swedish music streaming giant added.
With Lyrics feature, Spotify is reportedly discontinuing its 'Behind the Lyrics' feature.
Earlier last week, Spotify had announced it was set to acquire Findaway, a global leader in digital audiobook distribution for an undisclosed price. Findaway works across the entire audiobook ecosystem with a platform and offerings that serve authors, publishers, and consumers of this rapidly growing industry, which is expected to grow from $3.3 billion to $15 billion by 2027.
