Snapchat Release New Safety Features Including Auto-Blocking Multiple Accounts Creation On The Same Device

With the new safety feature, blocking someone on Snapchat will now also automatically block any new friend requests from other accounts created on the same device.

Snapchat has released new safety features including a much-needed feature that other social media platforms like Instagram already have. The newly introduced features include blocking capabilities, simplified location sharing, expanded in-app warnings and enhanced friending protections.

The social media platform has enhanced its blocking functionality to better protect users from harassment. With the new safety feature, blocking someone on Snapchat will now also automatically block any new friend requests from other accounts created on the same device.

Additionally, users will be prevented from sending friend requests to individuals aged 13 to 17 unless they share mutual friends. The app will also restrict friend requests from users in locations commonly associated with scam activity, according to Gadgets 360. Snapchat has indicated that a localized version of this feature will be rolled out in India soon.

Another important safety feature introduced by Snapchat is Simplified Location Sharing. This feature allows young users to control which friends can see their location on the Snap Map, with frequent reminders to review their location-sharing settings.

As part of the safety updates, Snapchat’s in-app warning system will notify users about messages from different regions to protect them from suspicious users and scammers. Additionally, a warning message will be displayed to individuals receiving messages from users who have been blocked or reported, as reported by Gadgets 360.

Snapchat New Features: Availability

These features will be available in the UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the Nordic countries, and parts of Europe. However, Snapchat did not disclose details about the rollout in India. The company mentioned that these new safety features could help reduce the risk of inappropriate content and contact from scammers and cyberbullies on the platform.
