New Delhi: Telecom major Reliance Jio has introduced a new prepaid recharge plan worth Re 1 that is grabbing the headlines as this development comes at a time when other telcos such as Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea are increasing their prepaid tariffs. Jio has also recently modified its Rs 119 prepaid plan and made it the most affordable plan in its unlimited plans portfolio.
According to a report by TelecomTalk, Reliance Jio's Re 1 prepaid recharge plan comes with a validity of 30 days and offers 100MB of data. Once users exhaust their quota of bundled internet, their browsing speed will get reduced to 64Kbps speed.
It should be noted that apart from Jio, neither Airtel of Vodafone Idea is currently offering a prepaid recharge voucher for as low as Re 1.
Other budget plans out there in the market by Bharti Airtel includes a Rs 155 recharge plan, and by Vodafone Idea is a prepaid recharge voucher worth Rs 129.
Vodafone Idea's plan gives unlimited calls, 200MB data, and a validity of 18 days. However, there are no bundled features such as messaging as well as subscriptions to Vi movies and TV.
The prepaid plan worth Rs 155 by Airtel gives unlimited calls, 300 SMS, and 1 GB data along with a validity of 24 days. Some of the bundled benefits offered with the plan are Amazon Prim Mobile Edition Free Trial, Wynk Music free and Apollo free hellotunes.
Meanwhile, earlier this month, Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Jio increased the telecom tariffs by about 20 percent with effect from December 1, a move likely to impact almost half of India's mobile phone users.
