Reliance Jio on Tuesday announced the largest-ever launch of its 5G services across 50 cities in India. Jio's "True 5G" is being rolled out across 17 states/union territories, taking the count to 184 cities.

The telco will invite Reliance Jio users from these cities to join the welcome offer where they will be able to enjoy unlimited data experience at more than 1Gbps speed.

“We have stepped up the speed and intensity of True 5G rollout across the nation because we want every Jio user to enjoy the transformational benefits of Jio True 5G technology in the new year 2023. The entire nation will be able to enjoy and benefit from Jio True 5G services by December 2023,” a Jio spokesperson said in a press release statement.

To recall, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched 5G services in the country on October 1, 2022, at the India Mobile Congress 2022 during which he had said that the use of 5G technology will not be limited to speedy internet access, but it has the capability to change lives.


Meanwhile, the India 5G smartphone market is expected to expand by more than 70 per cent (year on year) by the end of CY2023. The country's smartphone market recorded more than 13 times growth in its 5G shipments from the year of its initial introduction in 2020.
