Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman and Managing Director of Reliance Industries, made a significant announcement at the company's 46th Annual General Meeting, revealing the launch of the Jio True5G developer programme. This pioneering initiative harmonises the power of Reliance's 5G network, edge computing capabilities, and a wide array of applications and services.
During his address, Ambani highlighted that the programme will not only provide access to an extensive collection of partner solutions but also introduce the establishment of the Jio True5G lab. This move is aimed at accelerating the industry's transformation by harnessing the capabilities offered by the Jio True5G suite.
The platform's distinct features empower enterprises by offering them the ability to dynamically activate network slices as per their requirements. Additionally, businesses can deploy their applications on Jio's multi-access edge-compute locations, benefiting from enhanced performance. This integrated approach also extends to accessing a diverse ecosystem of partner applications, all consolidated within a single suite.

Ambani emphasised the profound impact of this initiative, stating, "We are in the process of building a transformative platform that will revolutionise the way Indian enterprises, small businesses, and technology startups engage with the digital realm."
Highlighting the advantages for enterprises, the Chairman elaborated on the advanced network slicing capabilities. This feature empowers enterprises to establish and optimise network slices on an ongoing basis, enhancing their overall network resource management and operational efficiency.
Additionally, Ambani also announced that Jio AirFiber will be launched on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi on September 19 this year.
"We began 5G rollout last October. In nine months, Jio 5G is already present in over 96 per cent of the census towns. And we are on track to cover the entire country by December 2023. This makes Jio 5G the fastest-ever 5G rollout anywhere in the world," he said.
Reliance Industries has cumulatively invested $150 billion in the last 10 years, the biggest by any Indian corporate, Ambani said on Monday. He added that Reliance has been the forerunner of emerging new India. "We have set seemingly impossible goals and achieved them," he said.
Ambani said that today, nearly 85 per cent of the total 5G cells operational in India are in Jio’s network. "At our current pace, we are adding one 5G cell to our network every 10 seconds, and we will have nearly 1 million 5G cells operational by December," the Reliance head added.
