Ranveer Allahbadia's comments on dark comedy show "India's Got Latent" not only started a nationwide uproar over the promotion of "obscene content" on public platforms but also left a bleak impact on the YouTuber's "BeerBiceps" channel's subscriber base. According to data from multiple influencer marketing and tracking platforms, Allahbadia has lost thousands of subscribers ever since his comments went viral.
How Many Subscribers Did Ranveer Lose?
While there is no fixed number, multiple platforms show a sharp decline in subscribers.
For starters, data from Social Blade (see below) shows a loss of nearly 700,000 subscribers on February 10 and February 11, a day after the "India's Got Latent" controversy began.
Additionally, data from HypeAuditor (see below) shows that the channel lost a little over 60,000 subscribers between February 9 and February 12.
Lastly, as reported by Mint, Qoruz data shows that the channel lost around 50,000 subscribers since February 10. It also claimed that his other eponymous channel saw a drop of 20,000 in subscribers.
What Is The Controversy All About?
The issue began when Allahbadia, as a guest judge on "India's Got Latent", made allegedly offensive and explicit remarks while interviewing/grilling contestants. His co-judge, social media influencer Apoorva Makhija, also made similar comments. YouTube removed the episode featuring Allahbadia and Raina and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that an FIR had been filed in Guwahati against Allahbadia, Raina, Makhija, and others associated with the show. The charges include promoting obscene content and engaging in explicit discussions.
Complaints were also submitted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, demanding strict action against the accused.
Political figures weighed in on the issue, with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commenting that while he had not personally seen the controversial clip, it was essential to maintain boundaries while exercising freedom of expression.

Allahbadia’s Apology
In response to the backlash, Allahbadia released a public apology. In a video shared on X, he expressed regret for his remarks.
“My comment wasn’t just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. Just here to say sorry,” Allahbadia admitted. “Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use my platform... Family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better, and that’s been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to just get better... I hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
