Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 68th edition of the monthly radio broadcast 'Mann ki Baat' on Sunday highlighted the massive participation by the country's youth in the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology’s (Meity) Atmanirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge. In his latest address to the nation, PM Modi noted that nearly two thirds of the entries were made by the youth of tier two and tier three cities in the App challenge which focused on finding alternatives to the various banned Chinese apps and showcase India's steps towards becoming a self-reliant nation.

Prime Minister discussed about several of these apps that have been developed in the country, including Kutuki Kids Learning app, an interactive app for children; an app for micro blogging platform called ku KOO ku; Chingari App which is getting popular among the youth; Ask Sarkar app to get right information about any government scheme; Step Set Go, a fitness app etc.

Modi said that today's small start-ups will transform into big companies tomorrow and become the mark of India in the world. He added that one should not forget that the big companies which exist in the world today, were also, once start-ups.

The Prime Minister urged the nation to know more about these Indian apps which will help in making India digitally self-reliant and will be a push towards 'Vocal For Local'.

According to the reports, a cash reward of upto Rs 20 lakh, Rs15 lakh and Rs10 lakh has been granted to around two dozen applications in different categories.
