India's Performance At Paris Olympics 2024

India concluded its campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a total of six medals—one silver and five bronze—falling just short of the seven medals achieved at the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

The medal haul includes Manu Bhaker, who earned bronze in the 10m Air Pistol (women) and another bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event with Sarabjot Singh. Swapnil Kusale added to the tally with a bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions, while the Indian men’s hockey team secured a bronze by defeating Spain 2-1. Neeraj Chopra clinched a silver in the men’s javelin throw, and Aman Sehrawat took home a bronze in the men’s freestyle 57kg wrestling category.

Possibility Of A Seventh Medal For India At Paris Olympics 2024?

The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has postponed its decision on Vinesh Phogat's appeal, extending the deadline to August 11, 2024. Vinesh, who was disqualified from competing in the gold medal match in the women’s 50kg wrestling event at the Paris Olympics 2024 due to being overweight, has appealed for a joint-silver medal. The final ruling on her appeal is expected to be delivered by 6:00 PM on August 11, according to an official statement from the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

With India having already secured six medals, the possibility of a seventh hinges on a favorable decision from CAS regarding Vinesh Phogat’s appeal, which could result in her being awarded a silver medal. However, the likelihood of this outcome remains slim.
