WhatsApp is expanding its suite of Meta AI-drive tools, with new features on the horizon for its users in select markets, including India and the United States. The latest development from the Meta-owned messaging platform involves a feature named 'Imagine Me,' which allows users to generate AI-created photos of themselves. The feature, uncovered by WABetaInfo, has been seen in the latest WhatsApp beta release for Android (version 2.24.14.13), available through the Google Play Beta programme.
Although still under development, 'Imagine Me' will enable users to upload reference selfies to create personalised images using Meta AI.
How Will WhatsApp's 'Imagine Me' Work?
A screenshot from the beta version, shared by WABetaInfo on X (formerly Twitter) reveals how this feature might function once fully implemented.
Users will be able to request AI-generated images by typing "Imagine me" in the Meta AI chat or "@Meta AI imagine me" in other chat windows.
This tool will offer customisable backgrounds and locations, from forests to outer space, to enhance user photos, potentially leading to the creation of unique stickers.
The feature appears to be optional, requiring users to activate it manually within their settings. Users will also have the option to delete uploaded selfies whenever they choose.
