Chipset maker MediaTek has launched its Dimensity 7050 processor, which is designed to provide gamers an edge with "MediaTek HyperEngine" gaming enhancements, and more. The new Dimensity 7050 SoC is identical to the Dimensity 1080 processor that was unveiled in November last year.


Built on TSMC’s N6 chip production process, the Dimensity 7050 has 2x Arm Cortex-A78 performance cores clocked at 2.6GHz and 6x Arm Cortex-A55 power-efficiency cores humming at 2.0GHz. The GPU side has Arm Mali-G68 MC4.


Indian domestic handset maker Lava is the first OEM that will collaborate with MediaTek to launch the Lava Agni 2 5G which will feature the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chip. With advanced 5G integrated into this power-efficient, 6nm-class chip, MediaTek Dimensity 7050 allows OEMs to create smartphones with greater CPU performance, low power consumption, and an incredibly smooth gaming experience.

The new MediaTek Dimensity chipset supports up to 200MP camera sensors and 4K video recording at 30FPS. The SoC is capable of handling up to 2520 x 1080px resolution displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and supports up to LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6, and dual SIM 5G connectivity are also included.
