Handset maker Xiaomi has launched its flagship Xiaomi 13 series at its annual flagship launch event in China. The Xiaomi 13 series is the second generation of smartphones created in collaboration with German camera and lens major Leica. The Xiaomi 13 series comes with new optical and computational capabilities with Leica true colour imaging and top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The processor is also expected to be adopted by smartphone makers OnePlus, Oppo, Asus Republic of Gamers, Honor and Motorola, among others.

Xiaomi has not yet confirmed when the two smartphones will be available out of China. However, some reports suggest that the Xiaomi 13 series will be launched in India early next year.


The Xiaomi 13 series also comes with the company's latest custom Android skin, MIUI 14, which is centered around "convenience and simplicity". Xiaomi's MIUI 14 claims to optimise the system space occupation and cuts unremovable system applications down to eight. In addition, MIUI 14 also offers new widgets, enhances on-device privacy protection, and provides new features in devices' interconnectivity.

The Xiaomi 13 flagship lineup is among the first lot of smartphones to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile SoC. Vivo has already launched its X90 Pro+ with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro are up for pre-orders in China and will go on sale starting December 14. Here's everything else you should know about the latest Xiaomi 13 flagship phones. 


The Xiaomi 13's base variant with 8GB+128GB configuration costs CNY 3,999, or roughly $575 and the 12GB+512GB model costs CNY 4,999, or roughly $720. The price of the Xiaomi 13 Pro starts at CNY 4,999, or roughly Rs 59,215 and the starting price of the Xiaomi 13 has been set at CNY 3,999, or roughly Rs 47,369.


Xiaomi 13 comes with a flat design something which has been adopted by many smartphone OEMs. The 13 Pro and the vanilla Xiaomi 13 both feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The Xiaomi 13 comes with a 6.36-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate screen, a peak brightness of 1,900 nits, Dolby Vision and HLG support.


The pricier Xiaomi 13 Pro has a curved 2K display with an LTPO screen for adaptive refresh rate. The Xiaomi 13 Pro comes with a triple 50MP camera setup housed inside a square camera island. The device also has a 50MP telephoto Leica lens and another 50MP ultra-wide sensor. For charging, the Xiaomi 13 packs a 4,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging as well as 50W wireless charging. The Xiaomi 13 Pro gets a 4,820mAh battery with 120W charging and support for 50W wireless charging as well as 10W reverse wireless charging.
