Handset maker Xiaomi is set to launch the Xiaomi 12S line on July 4, the company has confirmed. The Xiaomi 12S series will succeed the current Xiaomi 12 lineup. Also, these will be the first ones to arrive with Leica-branded primary cameras. To recall, the handset maker had officially announced a partnership with German camera-making giant Leica and that the first jointly made phone will be unveiled in July. The move is seen as a move by Xiaomi to capitalise on Leica's popularity and be known as a serious contender in camera-centric devices.

According to a leaked image of the upcoming Xiaomi 12S series, the device with a white-coloured back panel could be the Xiaomi 12S while the one in the centre might be the Xiaomi 12S Pro. The device on the left might be the Xiaomi 12S Ultra.


Earlier, Xiaomi CEO, Lei Jun shared details about the Xiaomi 12S Ultra on Weibo and mentioned that camera in the device will have improved camera speeds by 32.5 per cent with an 11 per cent increase in starting speed over the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Meanwhile, the flagship, Xiaomi 12 Ultra is likely could be the first smartphone to launch with the top-tier Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC. According to a recent leak suggests that the device will sport a slightly smaller screen than its predecessor -- the Xiaomi 12 Ultra would feature a 6.7-inch LTPO AMOLED panel.


The biggest USP of the upcoming Xiaomi 12 Ultra is the Leica-branded primary camera set-up even though the camera specs may be unchanged from the very capable Mi 11 Ultra. There could be a 50MP primary camera with the largest sensor in a smartphone, paired with two 48MP sensors. There might be a  selfie camera with 20MP sensor and the device may be powered by a 4800mAh battery.
