PUBG enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for its new avatar, Battlegrounds Mobile India, to be launched in the country. However, as the launch date draws closer, there seem to be clouds of uncertainty hovering over it.
Several Indian politicians are demanding a ban even before the game is launched. In fact, many leaders, including Telangana MP Dharmapuri Arvind, Gadchiroli MP Ashok Nete, and BJP's national spokesperson Suresh Nakhua, have raised questions about its launch.
Here's What the Leaders Had To Say
These political leaders argued that the South Korean company Krafton, which made Battlegrounds Mobile India, had said that the company had ended its relationship with China's Tencent for the distribution of the game in India.
However, Tencent distributes PUBG along with Krafton in other countries. In such a situation, the launch of Krafton's game Battlegrounds Mobile India is a matter of concern.
There are also allegations that it is being relaunched by making some changes to PUBG's new avatar, Battlegrounds Mobile. By calling it 'India Edition,' the launch is misleading and deceptive.
Congress strongman Abhishek Singhvi has also expressed his concerns over the relaunch of PUBG. At the same time, he also alleged that the central government is misguiding the youth by allowing the launch of 'PUBG 2'. He said that the central government first banned it and later allowed it with a 15.5 percent Chinese stake.
Ninong Ering Wrote Letter To PM Modi
Earlier, Arunachal Pradesh MLA Ninong Ering had written a letter to PM Modi demanding a ban on Battlegrounds Mobile India. According to him, this game is a version of PUBG.
Ering said that the company that made Battlegrounds Mobile India had hired employees of the same Chinese company, Tencent. Apart from this, he also said that Krafton had invested about $22.4 million in domestic gaming company NODWIN and this was a serious matter.
