Earlier, postpaid users had to go through a long process to get their number converted to prepaid. But postpaid users will be able to easily convert their connection to prepaid without changing the SIM card. In fact, the Telecom Department has started the {OTP} One Time Password Authentication process. This process will enable the user to change a postpaid connection to a prepaid connection without changing the SIM. Let's know about the procedure.
Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) had placed this proposal in front of the Telecom Department recently. The department said that last year, the members of COAI which include private telecom companies like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea had asked for an easy process to transfer connections from postpaid to prepaid.
You can now transfer postpaid connection to prepaid sitting at home
- To transfer a postpaid number to a prepaid number, the number must be at least 90 days old.
- The user will first have to submit a request through the company's website or app.
- The user will then get a message with the transaction ID, and OTP (one-time password}.
- The validity of this OTP will be only 10 minutes.
- After entering the OTP, the user will get the confirmation.
- With the confirmation, the user will get the date of completion of the process.
- Users can complete this process with the help of OTP and IVRS{ voice calling}.
- According to the Telecom Department, this process will be completed in half an hour.
