Samsung Galaxy S24 Series To Get 7 Years Of Android Updates

The Galaxy S23 will ship with the One UI 5.1 software, built on Android 13 and customised for the Galaxy series.

Samsung held the title of software update leader in the industry for quite a while. However, Google shook things up lasty year by revealing that the flagship Pixel 8 series would receive substantial software updates for seven years, catapulting them ahead of Samsung. Now, the South Korean tech giant has adopted a similar approach for the upcoming Galaxy S24 series, and the series would get seven years of Android updates, the media has reported.

The Galaxy S23 will ship with the One UI 5.1 software, built on Android 13 and customised for the Galaxy series. Following the official release of the devices, they received their initial major update to One UI 6, based on Android 14. This update marks the first of four committed software updates from Samsung. The Galaxy S23 will receive software updates until 2027, with the last year dedicated to the final version, says a report by Android Headlines.

If Google continues with its current naming convention, Android 17 in 2026 will be the final update for the Galaxy S23 phones.

Galaxy S24 Specs, Features (Expected)

The specifications of the upcoming Galaxy S24 series were leaked in a recent report by the German website WinFuture.de. According to the report, the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24 Plus will sport the Samsung Exynos 2400 chipset in Germany and Europe, while in other global markets, they will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC. The lineup may come with Exynos in India as well. On the other hand, the Galaxy S24 Ultra is set to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset across all markets.

Meanwhile, a recently surfaced hands-on video, shared by user BenIt Bruhner Pro (@BennettBuhner) on X (formerly Twitter), offers a glimpse into the purported design of the super premium Galaxy S24 Ultra.

The video exhibits a flat display with a centrally located hole-punch cutout for the front camera, framed by notably slim bezels. On the handset's right edge, the power button and volume rockers take their place. This leak corresponds with earlier speculations circulating within the tech community.
