Looking at the past, it can be said that Samsung has somewhat been inspired by Apple with its recent product designs. Apple introduced the iPhone Dynamic Island earlier, and now Samsung might be bringing something similar called the 'Now Bar'. Samsung’s Android 15 update is delayed but is expected to launch alongside the new Galaxy S25 series in January. In the meantime, the company is offering a preview of what’s coming.
Following Apple’s lead with Dynamic Island to optimise screen space for notifications, Samsung is introducing its own version, enhancing the Now bar at the bottom of the screen with AI capabilities.
Samsung’s Android 15 Now Bar Update: What Do We Know?
The Dynamic Island on the iPhone 15 and newer models display information such as charging status, Uber ride details, and food delivery updates. Samsung plans to implement a similar feature with its Now Bar, positioned at the bottom of the screen. Utilizing Galaxy AI technology, it will offer a variety of features directly on the home screen.
Samsung has teased that the Now Bar will provide weather updates, flight alerts, and even allow users to convert currency without leaving the home screen. These pre-release teasers come as anticipation grows for the Android 15 update, with competitors like OnePlus and Nothing already rolling it out for their devices, and Vivo and Oppo launching new phones with the update.
Meanwhile, Google has already begun its Android 16 beta program, which adds pressure on Samsung to release the public update as soon as possible. More details about the upcoming One UI 7 version are expected to be revealed at the next Galaxy Unpacked event in January, where the company will unveil its new flagship devices for 2025.
