Handset makers OnePlus and Oppo are joining hands with Google to integrate the powerful Gemini 1.0 Ultra AI into their smartphones. This collaboration promises to bring a wave of innovative AI features to OnePlus and Oppo smartphones, enhancing user experience. The announcement was made at the recent Google Cloud Next '24 event where tech giant Google confirmed the upcoming integration of Gemini 1.0 Ultra AI into these popular smartphone lines, the media has reported.


This means OnePlus and Oppo users can expect to see a range of intelligent features rolled out later this year, including: News summarisation, audio summarisation, AI toolbox to enhance productivity, among others.

According to Nicole Zhang, General Manager of AI Product for Oppo and OnePlus, the transformative potential of generative AI technology is big. He stated: “Oppo and OnePlus are poised to democratise AI benefits globally. Through strategic partnerships with Google, integrating Gemini and Google Cloud AI into our smartphones, and collaborating with industry leaders, we're excited to pioneer a new era of mobile AI innovation.”


The partnership between is said to revolutionise AI experiences on smartphones. Both brands have introduced their inaugural Generative AI feature, the "AI Eraser," leveraging Oppo’s AndesGPT LLM technology. Presently, this feature is available on the Oppo Reno 11 series and a range of OnePlus devices, including the OnePlus 12 (read our full review here), OnePlus 12R, OnePlus Open, OnePlus 11 and the newly debuted OnePlus Nord CE 4.

According to reports, more than 100 cutting-edge AIGC (Artificial Intelligence and Generative Content) experiences are set to debut as Oppo and OnePlus gear up for their upcoming launches.


Users can expect a steady stream of new features being unveiled by both handset brands. Some of the additions to look out for include Google’s Circle to Search feature.


OnePlus recently new AI Eraser feature for its smartphones, representing the company's inaugural venture into generative AI technology, powered by its exclusive large language model. This marks the beginning of a wider OnePlus AI suite, with the company teasing additional AI-driven functionalities in development. With this, OnePlus joins the likes of Google and Samsung.


Google initially pioneered AI-powered editing with its Magic Eraser feature, which was initially limited to Pixel devices but now accessible to users via a Google One subscription. Later, Samsung also introduced its own iteration of AI-driven photo manipulation through the Galaxy AI suite, debuting alongside the Galaxy S24 series, earlier this year.
