Handset maker Oppo has said it aims to introduce generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) functionalities to the Reno 11 series smartphones. The  smartphone manufacturer stated that it would globally deploy GenAI features and tools, including Oppo AI Eraser, to the Reno 11 series in the second quarter (Q2) of this year, the media has reported. Furthermore, utilising its proprietary AI model AndesGPT, Oppo will delve into additional tools and services centered around three key aspects: dialogue enhancement, personalisation, and cloud-device collaboration.


Oppo had launched its Reno 11 series in January. The Reno 11 5G came at a starting price of Rs 29,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage version while ther other variant with 8GB RAM and 256GB memory will set you back by Rs 31,999. In addition, Oppo also unveiled the creation of the Oppo AI Center dedicated to researching and developing AI and its applications. According to the brand, the AI Center is geared towards enhancing its AI capabilities and investigating a wider array of user-oriented AI products and features. This initiative is aimed at enabling the company to deliver AI experiences to users.

In the era of AI Smartphones, both the mobile phone industry and user experience will witness revolutionary changes,” Pete Lau, Chief Product Officer of Oppo was quoted as saying by Business Standard.


“Oppo is dedicated to becoming a contributor and promoter of AI Smartphones. We look forward to working together with our industry partners to jointly drive the innovation of the mobile phone industry and reshape the intelligent experience of mobile phones.”


To recall, Oppo had unveiled its extensive language model, AndesGPT, consisting of 180 billion parameters last year. The handset maker has already implemented GenAI functionalities in its flagship Oppo Find X7 series, featuring intelligent object removal in photos and phone conversation summary capabilities.


Although initially limited to its domestic market, Oppo intends to broaden GenAI's reach to other regions, including India, by introducing AI features to the Reno11 series smartphones.
