OnePlus has officially announced the global and India launch of its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 12, on January 23. Additionally, the handset maker has confirmed the release of the OnePlus 12R, alongside, and it will succeed the OnePlus 11R. As seen in the teaser image, the OnePlus 12R is likely to bring notable enhancements, as compared to its predecessors. According to leaks, the device will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Additionally, the smartphone is expected to showcase a substantial design upgrade, and possibly incorporate a curved display and a glass sandwich design complemented by a metallic mid-frame.
The OnePlus 12R is said to be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 3.
Notably, OnePlus has confirmed that, unlike the OnePlus 11R, which had a restricted market presence, the OnePlus 12R will be available in more regions locations, including the European Union (EU) and the US.
The launch of the OnePlus 12R to more regions signals OnePlus's extension of its R-series smartphones to a global audience, unlike the OnePlus 10R and the OnePlus 11R, which were exclusive to India only.
Notably, R-series phones from OnePlus offer high-end specifications within an accessible mid-range price range and are essentially rebranded versions of the OnePlus Ace series, which are originally limited to the brand's home turf China.

The OnePlus 12 was launched in China earlier this onth. The Phone combines robust hardware and top-tier software at a starting price of CNY 4,299 (which roughyly translates into Rs 50,600). For performance, the smartphone employs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, along with Kryo CPU (30 per cent improvement) and GPU (25 per cent improvement) speeds, coupled with a 10 per cent power-saving enhancement. With LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 ROM supported by RAM-Vitalization and ROM-Vitalization, the phone claims to ensures sustained fast and smooth experiences, especially in demanding scenarios like heavy-duty tasks, multitasking, and prolonged usage.
The device finds inspiration from the braided channels of Dart River, and has been unveiled in a Flowy Emerald colour. There is no official word on the colour variants that will be available at global launch of OnePlus 12.
The device features a new 120Hz 2K Super Fluid AMOLED display with LTPO for vibrant colours and a peak brightness of 4500nits. It also comes with 100W SUPERVOOC fast wired charging, 50W AIRVOOC wireless charging, and a 5400mAh dual-cell battery system. There is an addition a Dual Cryo-velocity Cooling System that enhances cooling efficiency, providing a comfortable and uninterrupted experience even in performance-intensive situations.
The OnePlus 12 features a brand-new triple camera system which claims to deliver a flagship-level photography experience. The new and "balanced" triple camera system features an industry-first LYT808 50MP main camera co-developed with Sony, OV64B 64MP 3X periscope telephoto camera, and IMX581 48MP ultra-wide camera. The device features the latest self-developed HDR algorithm that helps to capture the subtle intricacies of highlights and shadows as people see in the natural world.
