London-based consumer tech brand Nothing has introduced a feature allowing discreet phone call recording, thus, enabling users to record calls without the other party's knowledge. While the feature is convenient, it is important to use this feature responsibly. The new capability by Nothing is made possible through a new widget. Here's further insight into Nothing's new call recording feature.


Nothing founder Carl Pei announced the new feature on X, formerly Twitter.


"Many have asked for discreet call recording on Nothing phones. This is now possible through our new recorder widget.🎙️," Pei wrote on X.






The newly-announced discreet call recording feature is available for users of Nothing phones, including the Nothing Phone 1, Nothing Phone 2 and Nothing Phone 2a. Users can make use of this functionality via the new recorder widget on Nothing phones.

As per the co-founder of the company, this new feature was one of the most requested features by Nothing's user base. Initially, recording calls on Nothing's devices required utilising the default recording option within the Google dialer, which would alert call participants about the ongoing recording, which is also the case with other Android phones.


It is to be noted that Nothing on Tuesday (March 5) launched its latest product, the Nothing Phone 2a. The Nothing Phone 2a has been launched in India for Rs 23,999 for the 8GB/128GB storage model without any bank offers. There are two other storage models from the company. The phone is available for a special launch price of Rs 19,999 just for one day on March 12 on e-commerce platform Flipkart, the company said during the launch in New Delhi.

The brand has promised three years of major Android updates and four years of security updates for the device, which is rare in this price segment. 


According to Carl Pei's Nothing, it the Nothing Phone 2a brings the following upgrades over the Nothing Phone 1: 30 per cent improved battery life, 40 per cent better brightness, 30 per cent better heat dissipation and 21 per cent reduction in bezel thickness, among others.
