New Delhi: Carl Pei's consumer tech firm Nothing is set to unveil its first smartphone and the device will be available on its first sale via e-commerce site Flipkart, the company has announced. According to Nothing, its first model will debut exclusively on O2 in the UK. The first handset from Nothing will be unveiled during the summer of 2022, the company had earlier said.

Nothing had earlier partnered with online marketplace Flipkart for selling its first consumer tech product, the Nothing Ear 1 earbuds last year.

According to a previous leak, the Nothing Phone 1 may be launched as a mid-range smartphone and not a flagship device, as many had been anticipating. The Nothing Phone 1 is likely to come with a 6.43-inch Full HD+ 90Hz AMOLED display and HDR10+ support. The device could be powered by the mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of memory, but it is not clear if the storage would be expandable.

The leakster also suggested that the device could be powered by a 4500mAh battery and also support wireless charging, which would be new for a mid-range phone. The Nothing Phone 1 will run on Android 12-based NothingOS platform.

Earlier in March, Pei's consumer technology company had announced that its first smartphone will be launching this summer with the Qualcomm Snapdragon mobile platform. The Nothing Phone 1 will be the second device in the company’s product ecosystem. The company had also released a series of images of Nothing OS, the proprietary it plans to ship with Nothing Phone 1.
