Meta Connect 2024: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg made some promising announcements, including the world's first augmented reality (AR) glasses, at the Meta Connect 2024 event. The event also witnessed the unveiling of Meta Quest 3s, MetaAI features, Llama 3.2 multimodal, and much more. Meta Quest 3s



Meta introduced the Quest 3S mixed reality headset, priced competitively at $399.99 for the top variant and $299.99 for the base variant. The headset is set to launch on October 15. Additionally, Meta has lowered the price of the 512GB Meta Quest 3 from $649.99 to $499.99.


Meanwhile, the higher-end Quest Pro and older Quest 2 models are being gradually discontinued.

Orion - AR Glasses


Meta has unveiled the first working prototype of Orion, a pair of augmented reality glasses that the company touts as the most advanced in the market, weighing under 100 grams. These see-through glasses allow users to view virtual objects overlaid onto their real-world surroundings. Wearers can participate in video calls, access Messenger and WhatsApp, and receive information about objects directly within their field of vision.


Meta stated that Orion is powered by a proprietary semiconductor, with a consumer version of the glasses currently in development.


Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses


Meta is updating the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses to include new AI-powered features, such as reminder functionality and voice control for scanning QR codes and phone numbers.


Later this year, the smart glasses are also expected to receive additional enhancements, including AI-driven video capabilities and real-time language translation.


Multimodal LLAMA 3.2


Meta has introduced Llama 3.2, an open-source multimodal AI model capable of generating content based on both text and visual inputs.


Additionally, the company unveiled mobile-optimised versions of Llama 3.2 for enhanced performance on portable devices.


Meta AI Chatbot With Voice Capabilities


Meta AI will now allow users to select from a range of celebrity voices, including those of Judi Dench and John Cena, for voice interactions. This feature can be accessed through Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct Messages, and WhatsApp.
