Apple on Monday, September 9, officially launched the much-awaited iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models at its Glowtime event. The iPhone 16 Pro gets slimmer bezels, highlighting its upgraded ProMotion display. Apple has described the iPhone 16 Pro as having a "stunning new design." Unlike the iPhone 16 base models, the iPhone 16 Pro is powered by the A18 Pro chip, which offers better performance than the standard A18, and it utilises the same second-generation 3nm architecture and includes a 16-core Neural Engine that surpasses the A17 Pro in both speed and efficiency.

The iPhone 16 Pro also comes with thinner borders, Always-On Display, and comes with a ceramic shield for added durability. Made from grade 5 titanium, which Apple claims is stronger and more scratch-resistant than what competitors have used. The Apple iPhone 16 Pro is available in four colour options.

iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max Prices

The prices of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max start at $999 and $1199, respectively, in the US. The latest iPhone 16 Pro models are available in new colours, including a new “Desert Titanium” (gold), along with the familiar white, black, and natural titanium colourways. This new gold titanium replaces the blue titanium from last year's iPhone 15 Pro. Both models are offered in storage capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, maintaining the same pricing structure as the iPhone 15 Pro series.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max pack the Apple A18 Pro chipset, and Apple continues its policy of only bringing the most advanced silicon to the two super-premium iPhone models. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus both get the A18 chipset. The A18 Pro chip features a 16-core neural engine, enabling AI functions to operate up to 20 per cent faster compared to the iPhone 15 Pro.

However, unlike their predecessors, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max are no longer the only phones of their generation to have an action button, which was added to the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus.

iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max Specs, Features And Camera

The top ends of the iPhone 16 series do retain a handful of premium-only features, like the telephoto lenses. This year, both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max have the 5x optical zoom that only the larger iPhone 15 Pro Max had, which is a win for small-sized phone lovers. Now only the larger battery separates the iPhone 16 Pro from the Pro Max.

The iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max also have a 48 megapixel main camera, which has a new sensor that enables a 2x macro zoom as well as, in an Apple first, 4K video at 120 frames per second. The phones also pack a 48 megapixel ultra wide camera to round out its rear shooter trio.

According to the Cupertino-headquartered tech giant, the iPhone 16 Pro offers higher resolution and more control than "ever before." The device features a 48-megapixel 'Fusion Camera' with an enhanced cache, allowing for sharper images of moving subjects. Moreover, the Apple iPhone 16 Pro introduces a 48MP ultra-wide camera with a quad-pixel sensor and retains the 12MP 5x telephoto camera from previous models. This time, the tetra prism design is available on both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. The new Camera Control feature is also included in the Pro series for added functionality.

The iPhone 16 Pro models come with a larger battery, which Apple claims offers the "best iPhone battery life ever." Both the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max, along with the non-Pro models, now support Apple Intelligence. This includes a new Visual Intelligence feature, similar to Google Lens, allowing users to take photos of signs and objects with the new camera button to instantly receive information about them.
