Apple on Monday officially launched the iPhone 16 in new colourways and the much-awaited 'Action Button' at its Glowtime event. The iPhone 16 makes use of aerospace grade aluminium. The new colours are "ultramarine" "teal" and pink. The display can go between 2,000 nits (in direct sunlight) and 1 nit. The Apple iPhone 16 comes with water and dust resistant, and according to Apple the glass-ceramic screen is around 50 per cent tougher than the last model and twice as strong as "any other smartphone."

iPhone 16, iPhone Plus Display

The iPhone 16 base and Plus models will come in 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch sizes, as widely expected. Both will feature the new customisable Action Button located on the left side of the device. This button can be programmed to perform various functions depending on the time of day. Additionally, it includes a new "camera control" feature.

iPhone 16, iPhone Plus Prices

The starting prices of iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus remain unchanged in the US. The starting price of iPhone 16 is $799 and iPhone 16 Plus is $899.

The new iPhone 16 lineup comes with the A18 Bionic chipset. According to Apple, the A18 chip will provide the same performance as the A16 Bionic while consuming 30 per cent less power, bringing it closer to desktop-class processors. The GPU is also said to be up to 40 per cent faster than that of last year's  iPhone 15, while using 35 per cent less power than the A16 Bionic.

iPhone 16 Camera

The iPhone 16 comes equipped with a 12MP 2x telephoto lens, adding some extra flexibility to its photography capabilities. By combining data from the main sensor, Apple refers to this setup as a 48MP 'Fusion' camera. It is capable of recording 4K video at 60fps with HDR support. The device also includes an ultra-wide camera. Though it might seem confusing at first, as it appears there are three cameras in a dual-lens arrangement, the first two lenses are placed within the bottom ring.

iPhone 16 Capable Of Running AAA Games

The iPhone 16 will also be capable of running AAA games that were previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro, such as Assassin's Creed Mirage and Resident Evil. Drance further revealed that Tencent's Honor of Kings: World will also be available on the iPhone 16.
