iPhone 14 release is expected to take place in September alongside the Apple Watch Series 8. Apple has regularly launched its iPhone series in September every year and going by the latest leaks, it appears that the Cupertino tech giant is going to stick to its regular schedule this year as well. The rumour mill suggests that Apple will drop the ‘mini’ model this time around, and stick to four models for its upcoming iPhone 14 series. From the expected price to the different variants, here’s a quick roundup of all the leaked details and rumours around the iPhone 14 series so far.

iPhone 14 release date

As per a Bloomberg report, the iPhone 14 lineup is expected to be launched on September 7. If you are an ardent Apple aficionado, you already know that Apple usually hold its iPhone launch event towards the second half of September every year. However, as per noted analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the iPhone 14 lineup is expected to release slightly earlier, in order to minimise the impact of recession risk on demand.

iPhone 14 variants, screen sizes

As mentioned, reports suggest that Apple will finally ditch its ‘mini’ model after two years (iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini) and stick to a four-piece lineup — iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 14 Max, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Out of these, the ‘Max’ designation refers to a bigger screen, while the ‘Pro Max’ refers to top-end specifications.

It is largely believed that the iPhone 14 lineup will feature screen sizes up to 6.7 inches (for the Pro Max model). While the iPhone 14 and iPhoner 14 Pro will feature 6.1-inch displays, the Max and Pro Max variants may sport 6.7-inch screens.

It is expected that iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature bezels which are 20 percent smaller than the earlier generations.

iPhone 14 SIM card setup

As per a recent MacRumors report, citing anonymous tip, Apple may only release eSIM models in its upcoming iPhone 14 lineup.

iPhone 14 Touch ID rumours

For the last two generations, the iPhone lineup was tipped to bring back the much-in-deman Touch ID feature. However, that never happened with iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 lineup. So, the rumour mill now suggests that iPhone 14 may finally see the return of Touch ID. However, that seems like a distant possibility for now. After all, Kuo did suggest that Touch ID will only return to iPhone handsets in 2023.

Will iPhone 14 be notchless?

As per noted tipster Jon Prosser’s renders (which usually turn out to be bang on) the iPhone 14 series is expected come without a notch on top of the display and instead sport a hole-punch display.

iPhone 14 to come without a rear camera bump?

The rear camera bump is perhaps the most divisive modern feature seen on current-gen phones. While some don’t mind them, some don’t appreciate it, especially since it requires using a protective cover which sort of ruins the iPhone’s smooth, glossy look. As per Prosser’s renders, the iPhone 14 lineup will feature a “thick” design that could make the camera bump a thing of the past.

iPhone 14 price

The iPhone 13 model was priced at $799 for the 128GB storage model, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max went up to $1,599 for the 1TB variant. As per reports, it is largely believed that Apple may stick to a similar pricing for its iPhone 14 series. However, given the ongoing global economy slump — primarily owing to the Russia-Ukraine crisis — it could be expected that iPhone 14 prices could be dearer.

We will get to know more as we approach the iPhone 14 launch. For now, all the above information is based on reports and speculations. So, it is advised to consider this report with a pinch of salt.
