Gabit Smart Ring Review: It's been a while since I swore off smartwatches. Apart from the fact that I truly wanted to switch back to gorgeous analogue wristwatches, I was simply fed up with the constant pings from WhatsApp messages and incoming phone calls on my smartwatch, especially when I was trying to focus on researching and writing long-form articles. So, smart rings became my obvious go-to choice to track my health metrics — from sleep cycle to resting heart rate — without becoming an obtrusion.
While smart rings are great for tracking metrics and are supposed to be somewhat better due to their closer contact with finger skin, which is supposed to be more sensitive and hence better to take readings off, what most other rings that I tried out lacked was a solid support app. After spending nearly three weeks with the Gabit Smart Ring, I must admit that wearables are just getting smarter by the day, and thoughtfully so.
Gabit Smart Ring Review: Quick Pointers
What I loved:
- Comprehensive health tracking (fitness, sleep, nutrition, and stress)
- Feather-light (just 3.1 grams) yet built to last
- ~7 days of battery life
- A solid app to support data visualisation
- Support for diet/food intake on Gabit app
What I didn't:
- App could offer more guidance to novice users
Let's Get Physical (& Mental)
What sets the Gabit ring apart is its approach to health - both physical and mental. It tracks the four key pillars: fitness, sleep, nutrition, and stress, making it an all-in-one health companion. Truth be told, it’s not just a step counter — it’s a 24x7 health tracker that delivers insights into how well your body is functioning across these areas.
The ring tracks over 15 workout modes, offering detailed insights into activity levels, calories burned, and more. Like most other smart rings, it can track VO2 Max during workouts, a critical indicator of cardiovascular fitness. It also delivers an 'Active Score' that gives you a clear snapshot of your daily fitness efforts. I appreciate this, as it gives me a very clear way to track my health — all I need to do is keep the Score up. That's it!
With a focus on sleep quality, the Gabit app breaks down your sleep into key stages: awake, light, deep, and REM. The ring then provides a personalised sleep score based on your sleep duration and stages, helping you understand how well you’re recovering each night.
What about stress, you ask? The ring continuously monitors your stress levels, identifying patterns throughout the day and offering insights on how to manage stress more effectively.
Gabit is the only wearable that provides a complete view of your daily calorie surplus or deficit. By integrating data from your workouts, food log, and sleep, it offers a holistic view of your nutrition and helps you stay aligned with your health goals. The best bit here is that the app registers Indian food dishes as well when you log them into your app. So, even if you had wheat paranthas and paneer manchurian for dinner, the Gabit app would happily record it without making much of a fuss.
Like most other top-tier smart rings, the Gabit ring tracks essential health metrics like resting heart rate, heart rate variability (HRV), SpO2, and skin temperature — all of which provide a deeper understanding of your overall health.
A Seriously Impressive App
The Gabit App is where all the magic happens. It helps you track your daily, weekly, and monthly health trends. The app also syncs seamlessly with Apple Health and Google Fit, allowing you to integrate the Gabit Smart Ring’s data into your broader health ecosystem.
What I love about the app is that it’s not just about tracking numbers — it’s about making those numbers actionable. For instance, if your stress levels are high or your sleep quality is low, the app offers tips and advice to help you get back on track. It’s this combination of accurate tracking and actionable insights that makes the Gabit Smart Ring such a valuable health tool.
Out of the box, the process is simple and user-friendly. Gabit sends a complimentary sizing kit, ensuring you get the perfect fit before the actual ring arrives. After finding my size, I quickly paired the ring with the Gabit app (available for both iOS and Android), and within minutes, the device was up and running.
Like most other rings, the Gabit Smart Ring uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for its connectivity needs. So, while you need to keep your phone's Bluetooth on to check data on the app, it doesn't eat up too much battery unnecessarily.
The ring itself is impressively lightweight, weighing only 3.1 grams, making it comfortable for day and night wear. Despite its small size, the Gabit Smart Ring doesn’t compromise on durability. Crafted from titanium, it’s sturdy enough to withstand daily wear, including during workouts and showers (thanks to its 5 ATM water resistance).
It can also sustain bumps like a champ, as was clear from my weekly tussles on the football field when the opposing team calls a foul "unnecessarily". Aren't friendly matches without a referee truly fun?
Also, I have been wearing the ring non-stop for almost the entirety of my review. There is no particular discomfort in terms of wearability. Ideally, I'd suggest keeping the ring on your non-active hand, but you can put it on any finger you desire.
Like most other smart rings, the Gabit Smart Ring also offers nearly seven days of usage on a single charge. The charging case comes with USB-C compatibility, which means it will work perfectly fine with your smartphone cable as well (unless you're still using a Lightning-port iPhone, or God forbid, a non-USB-C Android).
Fast-charging smart rings are never advised as they might damage the battery of the device in the long run. So, it's best to stick to a regular charger for Gabit Smart Ring, or almost any other small wearable out there. For me, the Gabit Smart Ring juiced up from zero to full within less than 40 minutes on a regular charger.
A Bit Of Nitpicking Here, But...
...what the overall package needs right now is a welcoming guide for new users.
Smart rings are yet to go mainstream, and not many users would know how to use one. From pairing to figuring out which finger would be best to put the ring on, a short welcoming video on the app would have been mighty helpful.
Fittr, which brings the Hart smart ring, has got that one correct. Once you pair with the app, you get a quick video explaining how the ring works, and what you can expect from it in terms of functions and features.
Since Gabit already has a plethora of fitness influencers and experts on the app, a short-and-friendly intro video would have done wonders.
Gabit Smart Ring Review: Final Verdict
So, should you buy the Gabit Smart Ring? If you’re someone who cares about a comprehensive, no-nonsense approach to health tracking — the answer is a resounding yes.
For Rs 13,800 (Rs 13,110 with a 5 per cent discount right now on the official website), you’re getting a highly accurate and user-friendly wearable that tracks all aspects of your health — from fitness and sleep to nutrition and stress. Its lightweight, durable design and impressive seven-plus days of battery life make it a practical option for anyone looking to monitor their health without the constant hassle of recharging or adjusting settings.
While Samsung's Galaxy Smart Ring comes at a dearer price tag (Rs 38,999), Gabit Smart Ring's immediate rival comes in the form of the Fittr Hart Ring, which is priced at Rs 15,999. Given the slightly cheaper price and overall similar attributes, I'd say the Gabit Smart Ring could indeed be the smarter choice between the two.
The Gabit Smart Ring is available in three colour options — Black Matte, Silver Matte, and Glossy Rose Gold. I reviewed the first variant, in size 10.
