The much-anticipated launch of the iPad Air (6th Gen) might just be a few hours away. Apple is anticipated to launch the iPad Air (6th Gen) at the 'Let Loose' event on Tuesday (May 7) at 7:30 pm. This forthcoming iteration of the iPad Air marks a significant release, coming after a hiatus of two years since Apple's last iPad launch. There are widespread speculations about the new features and enhancements that the iPad Air (6th gen) will bring to the table, with many expecting it to bridge the gap between the iPad Air and iPad Pro series.

Let's delve into the details of what we know about the upcoming iPad Air (6th gen) and what to expect from its launch event.

iPad Air (6th Gen): Launch Date, Price (Expected)

Apple is gearing up to introduce the newest iPad Air series alongside the iPad Pro on May 7, with sales projected to kick off in the subsequent week.

Regarding pricing, the 11-inch iPad is expected to maintain its previous model's price tag (Rs 59,900), whereas the 12.9-inch version might see a bump of approximately Rs 10,000 in India.

iPad Air (6th Gen): Size, Colour Options (Expected)

Apple's anticipated reveal includes the 6th generation iPad Air in two size options: a standard 11-inch model and a larger 12.9-inch version.

Known for vibrant colour choices, Apple's iPad Air is likely to offer a similar array this year. The upcoming models are expected to feature a premium metal unibody design, incorporate an integrated Touch ID power button, provide a USB-C port, and include a quad-speaker arrangement.

iPad Air (6th Gen): Specifications (Expected)

Recent reports indicate that the upcoming iPad Air models are set to retain a traditional LED panel, recognised as Apple's Liquid Retina display. While mini LED displays offer superior contrast and brightness, they also come with higher production costs. It seems Apple might opt for standard LED panels to manage manufacturing expenses efficiently. The refresh rate is expected to stay at 60 Hz, and the bezels on the new models are likely to resemble those on the 5th Gen iPad Air.

Apple's history of adopting swift PCIe storage technologies continues with the 6th Generation iPad Air. Unlike its predecessor capped at 256 GB, the next model is rumored to offer up to 1 TB of storage space.

The front-facing camera is expected to switch from portrait to landscape orientation, improving the video call experience, as seen in the 10th Gen iPad. However, leaks suggest that despite this change, the camera specifications may stay the same, with a 12 MP sensor on both the front and rear cameras.

The current iPad Air, featuring the M1 chip, is already powerful. The upcoming model is rumoured to upgrade to the M2 chip, promising improvements in CPU, GPU, and AI performance. Additionally, Apple may boost the base model's storage to 128 GB and equip it with at least 8 GB of RAM, supporting upcoming AI features expected at WWDC 2024.

Both iPad Air variants are expected to have larger batteries with enhanced fast-charging capabilities, offering extended battery life. Apple might also introduce new battery technologies, akin to those in the iPhone 15, to extend the overall battery lifespan.
