ChatGPT Search Engine: OpenAI has announced significant improvements to ChatGPT’s Web-search capabilities, allowing users to access timely and relevant information more efficiently. With new updates, ChatGPT now offers quick responses along with links to Web sources, enabling users to obtain up-to-date sports scores, stock data, news, and more — all within the platform itself.

Users can either rely on ChatGPT to automatically decide when to search the Web based on their query or manually activate the Web search feature.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman expressed his enthusiasm about the release, encouraging users to try out the ChatGPT Plus version and install the Chrome extension to maximise the search functionality.

"I am cheerfully the first to admit when we ship something that isn't very good, but this time it's...really good," Altman tweeted.

How To Access ChatGPT Search

The new search feature is available on the ChatGPT Website and mobile apps, accessible immediately for ChatGPT Plus, Team, and SearchGPT waitlist users.

Enterprise and educational users are expected to gain access in the coming weeks, with a broader rollout for free users planned in the future.

You can also add the ChatGPT Search Chrome extension to your Google Chrome browser.

Source-Backed Responses

This enhanced search tool is designed to simplify Web-based inquiries by integrating natural language queries and source-backed responses directly into ChatGPT.

Partnering with reputable news and data providers, OpenAI has added fresh designs and information updates for categories like weather, news, and maps. Users can explore sources through clickable links in responses, promoting both deeper engagement and easier access to further information.

The updated model leverages a refined version of GPT-4, powered by advanced training techniques and partnerships with third-party search providers. OpenAI is also looking ahead to improvements in specialised areas like shopping and travel, as well as expanding this search function to other tools and broader user groups.

This integration of conversational AI and real-time search aims to transform how users interact with online information, offering a seamless way to both explore and utilise Web content.
