Northeastern states of India like Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Meghalaya have been affected by flooding as incessant rain disrupted the lives of thousands of people there. According to a report by the Guardian, the widespread flooding caused the deaths of 10 people and displaced more than 34,000. The southern part of Tripura has been affected the worst and the 34,000 displaced people are being sheltered in the north of the region. Amidst this havoc, telecom companies like Airtel and Jio have extended a helping hand to these people.
Airtel and Jio have announced that they are extending the validity of the prepaid plans of the subscribers who live in the flood-affected region by four days. Both telecom companies have also enabled Intra-Circle Roaming (ICR) in Tripura to ensure uninterrupted connectivity. Airtel has gone a step beyond and has extended the bill due date for postpaid customers by 30 days.
