Aadhaar Card Update Deadline Extended: Aadhaar card issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has become an essential part of our lives now. No matter where we go, an Aadhaar card is one of the most important things that one should have. It is used at hotels to check-in, used as document proof when buying SIM cards, and used as proof even if we've to set up a Wi-Fi connection at our place. Despite being such an important piece of our identity, we often overlook it. Did you know that UIDAI urges you to update your Aadhaar card details at least once every 10 years?
Updating it is not mandatory and it won't become invalid if you don't do it but UIDAI urges you to update it because regular updates ensure accurate authentication, and better service delivery. Doing so will help UIDAI maintain up-to-date records. To encourage citizens to update their Aadhaar card details, UIDAI has extended the deadline for free updates to December 14, 2024, through the 'myAadhaar' portal.
You might be thinking, "Extended the deadline for a free update? Isn't it supposed to be free only?" No, actually if you fail to update your Aadhaar card during this time then you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50 to get it done at Aadhaar centres.
