In what has become an annual tradition, Spotify has unveiled its Wrapped feature for 2023, offering users a personalised recap of their listening habits throughout the year. This year's Wrapped boasts a revamped design and introduces new elements like "Me in 2023," "Sound Town," and additional data to enhance the user experience.
2023 Spotify Wrapped: Top Features
For the past nine years, Spotify has been providing users with insights into their top artists, genres, songs, and podcasts. In an effort to add a more personalised touch, two new features have been introduced - "Me in 2023" and "Sound Town."
"Me in 2023" assigns users one of 12 "listening characters" based on their tastes and habits. These characters include the "Shapeshifter," known for quickly transitioning between artists, the "Luminary," who prefers light and upbeat music, and the "Alchemist," recognised for creating an abundance of playlists.
The "Sound Town" feature matches users to a city based on their listening preferences and top artists. For example, fans of Bad Bunny and Peso Pluma may find themselves connected to Mexico City.
Notable changes have been made to the traditional top-five lists. The design has been refreshed, with the top five genres represented as a sandwich, where each genre serves as an ingredient. Additionally, the top five artists now display the specific times when they were most frequently listened to, and the minutes listened reveal the peak day of a user's music consumption.
Adding a personalised touch to Wrapped is "Your Artist Message," which includes a clip from one of the user's top artists. The Wrapped feed also offers video messages from a multitude of artists, including Taylor Swift, Jung Kook, and Bad Bunny.
With the introduction of "Blend," users can compare their Wrapped with friends and create a mix of their most-listened-to music. Spotify's AI DJ, when available, provides commentary on top artists, genres, and songs within playlists.
How To Find & Share Spotify Wrapped
To access Spotify Wrapped, users can find the Wrapped feed on the Home Screen, identified by a banner or a Wrapped button at the top right corner. Under this tab, highlights, Wrapped summaries, and expert-curated editorial playlists are displayed. Users can easily share their highlight stories on social media by tapping the Share this story button at the end of a story.
It is essential to ensure that the Spotify app is updated, and for those using a browser, Wrapped can be viewed at Spotify.com/Wrapped.
