Chennai: A history-sheeter who went into hiding near a marshland in the Pechanayakkan Pothai area was hunted down by Tenkasi police using a drone.
According to a report on The Indian Express, a history-sheeter Shahul Hameed, who has cases of murder and extortion pending against him, came into the scanner again after he attacked a goat farmer Ber Mohammed.
Based on the complaint of Ber Mohammed and instructions of SP Krishnaraj, a special team of officials including DSP Manimaran went on to arrest Hameed. The drone unit of Tenkasi police also joined along with the police.

An officer from the SP office said Hameed went into hiding in an area surrounded by thick bushes and shrubs. The 50-acre land area was also surrounded by water so the police were finding it difficult to nab the accused.

The history-sheeter also carried a sickle with him and threatened to attack the police, he said.
Hence, the police started using a drone.
As soon as he saw the drone, he got scared and within minutes the police surrounded and arrested him, he said.

The accused who had been evading arrested a while now was arrested on Tuesday and the police shared footage of the incident on the same day.
