It was reported that the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Services put out the flames in 45 minutes. Firemen led by Fire Service Officer took the hose through the steps inside the tower and doused the flames.
A preliminary probe into the issue revealed that firecrackers that were burst during a wedding procession led to the fire accident. The Sivakasi police have registered a case and further investigation is on. The fire created panic among people as the tower went up in flames making loud noise. The authorities are assessing if the temple tower has incurred any structural damage, said a Times of India report.
