Chennai: Dr S Balachandran, Head of Regional Meteorological Centre - India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted that the low-pressure area now moved to the neighbourhood of North Tamil Nadu due to which clear skies are seen now.


However, there could be light to moderate showers on Saturday in Chennai, he predicted as quoted by a news agency.

Meanwhile, the clear skies on Friday come as a respite for the denizens of the city, the Greater Chennai Corporation is utilising the time to pump out water from submerged areas within its limits.






Also, Greater Chennai Police got into action to rescue people from low lying areas affected by the recent torrential rains. Greater Chennai Police taking to Twitter, said, "As of 12.00 noon today in Chennai, 3,428 persons living in flood-hit areas have been rescued by the Chennai Metropolitan Police and are staying in 79 temporary camps. They are being provided with essential assistance including food and water."
