The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rain in specific areas of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Wednesday. In Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts are expected to experience intense rainfall posing issues for people residing in low-lying areas. The heavy rainfall which lashed Erode on Tuesday resulted in waterlogging and inundation in low-lying residential areas. Chennai also witnessed steady overnight rains on Tuesday night.
According to ANI, Water enters houses and markets in the low-lying residential areas of Erode district after heavy rainfall in the region.
On the prediction for Wednesday, India Meteorological Department said, "Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Kanyakumari, Tirunelveli and Tenkasi districts of Tamilnadu. Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Ramanathapuram, Thoothukudi, Theni, Dindigul, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur, Nagapattinam & Mayiladuthurai districts of Tamilnadu and Karaikal area."
In Chennai, IMD said that the sky condition will be partly cloudy. IMD said, "Sky condition is likely to be partly cloudy. Light/Moderate rain with thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur in some areas. Maximum temperature is likely to be around 29°C and minimum temperature is likely to be 24-25°C."
In Puducherry, Education Minister announced rain holiday for schools in the union territory. Education Minister A Namachivayam said, "Due to heavy rain in the region, a holiday has been announced in all the government and private schools in Puducherry today (22nd November)."
Karaikal administration also declared a holiday for government and private school students on the account of rains on Wednesday.
