Chennai: The Madurai city police arrested six members including BJP and Hindu Front outfit cadre in connection with the disruption of a mass at a Christian prayer hall on Sunday. The members were arrested after the video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to a report in the Times of India, around 10 people from BJP and Hindu Front trespassed and disrupted a prayer meeting held at Nalvasanai AG Sabai on South Perumal Maistry Street in Madurai. They started to verbally abuse the congregation and started to throw the chairs. They also threatened the people attending the mass to leave the hall.

Following this, the organiser Praveenrajkumar gave a complaint to Madurai Southgate police. The police booked the accused under charges including trespassing, criminal intimidation and promoting communal hatred.
Based on the complaint, six persons were arrested and remanded into custody.
Meanwhile, the BJP and Hindu Front members also organised a protest condemning the arrest and demanding to stop religious conversion near Keeraithurai.

On Monday, the Madurai Bench of Madras HC transferred the suicide case of a Class 12 girl for a CBI probe based on the father's petition and allegations of forced conversion. The BJP and family members alleged religious conversion bid as the reason for the suicide of a girl in Thanjavur.
The NCPCR team also visited Thanjavur to have an inquiry with officials and to probe the case on Monday. However, MCPCR team said that Tamil Nadu government was not cooperating with the probe.
