Chennai: A 20-year-old college student attacked an 18-year-old woman with a knife near a bus stop in Kuppathametur of Vellore district on Wednesday. The man was reportedly in a relationship with the woman for the past three years and he attacked her allegedly after doubting her of having another relationship. 


According to a report on ABP Nadu, the man identified as Sathish Kumar (20) of Kuppathamettur in Vellore is a final year student of Ortho-technician studies. The woman was also a student of a private college in Ranipet. 


The man and the woman were reportedly in a relationship for the past three years and even recently Sathish went to the woman's home to ask her hand in marriage. 


However, Sathish then developed suspicion over the woman's activities.

In this backdrop on Wednesday, while both of them were waiting for bus in Tiruvalam bus stop, they started talking to each other. However, soon an argument ensued between them.


In a fit of rage, the man took out a knife and slit her in multiple places until she fell to the ground.

The public immediately nabbed Sathish Kumar and also contacted the police. Later, Tiruvalam police registered a complaint and arrested the man.


The girl was rushed to CMC Hospital in Vellore for treatment. Further investigation is on.
