Thoothukudi: The cybercrime cell of the district police arrested a 32-year-old man for sexually harassing women using cell phones on July 23..

Sources revealed that nabbing the offender was challenging for the police as the man kept changing his mobile numbers and phones as well making it difficult for the cybercrime cell to identify him.

However, the police managed to identify the accused as C. Krishnavel, 32, a mason from a village near Pudukottai in Thoothukudi district. Police sent him to judicial custody.

The crime came to light when one of the victims filed a complaint with the superintendent of police of Thoothukudi district recently. The victim alleged that the anonymous man had phoned her and spoke in obscene manner and also shared objectionable pictures.

According to the police, frequently changing numbers made it difficult to nab him and they had to adopt a scientific approach to arrest him.
