Chennai: Cuddalore DMK MP TRV Ramesh and five others were booked in connection with the alleged murder of a worker of the MP's cashew farm in Panruti that took place last month. Based on the investigation by CB CID, all the five members were arrested on Friday but the MP, who is the prime accused, is on the run. 


According to a report in Times of India, the police arrested five members including the PA of the MP Natarajan, cashew factory manager M Kandavel, M Allah Pitchai, K Vinoth and Sundararajan.

The CB CID police who are currently investigating the case said, on September 19, Govindarasu (63) of Melmampattu in Panruti went for his work at TRV Gayathiri Cashews, owned by the MP but did not come back home.

On September 20 at 2.25 am, Govindarasu's son G Senthilvel reportedly recieved a call from the MP's PA where he informed that his father consumed poison in an attempt to suicide and was rushed to Panruti Government Hospital but upon arrival doctors declared him dead.

Senthilvel, who was out of town, immediately told his cousins to visit his father in Panruti Hospital and when the relatives went to the mortuary, Govindarasu had injuries to his left eye, face and several other body parts. Based on this, Senthilvel filed a complaint on September 20 stating that his father was a strong man and did not have any reason to kill himself. Senthilvel also named five workers of the cashew unit as accused in the case, said the report. 


Following this, Kadampuliyur police registered a case under unnatural death and started investigation. However, PMK inisited on a CBI probe and moved Madras High Court. Hence, the Court transferred the case to CB-CID on September 27 and based on preliminary investigation booked the MP and five others under various sections of IPC.
