Chennai: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted raids in six locations of Tamil Nadu to crackdown on child sexual abuse videos after the central agency received a tip-off about six men from the state who allegedly run a WhatsApp group 'Child Sex Videos Only'. 


Further, the CBI has also brought accused from 14 states and union territories under the radar to curb online child sex abuse. The CBI has overall registered 23 cases against 83 persons under the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act and has identified over 5,000 offenders across the world in connection with child sex abuse rackets.


According to a report on Times of India, the CBI conducted searches in Tamil Nadu districts including Kattumaram Kuttai in Salem, Dokkuveeranpatti in Dindigul, Attur in Namakkal, Thorapadi in Tiruvannamalai, Bettathapuram in Coimbatore and Tiruvallur districts. 


The CBI has also filed FIR against some of the accused of circulating, downloading and storing child pornographic material and posts from Tamil Nadu on November 14.

Apart from Tamil Nadu, the CBI also conducted raids in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Haryana and Chattisgarh. 


Among the people who are under the scanner, the CBI is also receiving help from other agencies to track offenders from other foreign countries including Pakistan, the US, Canada, Indonesia, UK, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Egypt and Nigeria, said a report in The Hindu. 


Earlier, the CBI crackdown a racket by an accused in Goa with the tip-off received from Interpol. In July, the probe by CBI revealed that an accused in Goa abused two dozens of children to record pornographic content and circulate it to pedophiles on the internet.
