Chennai: Nearly leaders of 12 political parties in Tamil Nadu including DMK, AIADMK and VCK took part in the all-party meeting chaired by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to discuss on the ways to recieve exemption from National Eligibility Cum Entrance Exam (NEET). The BJP leaders who came to the Secretariat in Chennai staged a walkout against the all-party meet and said NEET was initiated during UPA government.
During the meet on Saturday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin said, "The state government sent a Bill passed in Tamil Nadu Assembly to Tamil Nadu Governor for him to recieve an assent from the President. However, the Governor did not send the Bill to the President."
"When a state is passing a Bill, it's a democratic duty of the Governor to respect the move and take action on it. However, since the Governor did not act on it, I met the Governor and urged him to pass it to the President," he said adding, “Yet, the Governor did not act on it and this is why an all-party meeting had to be convened immediately.”

Later, the 12 parties together passed a resolution to take legal action to put an end to NEET. The Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian after the meet said, we have taken a resolution to talk to legal experts on the next course of legal action that we can take against NEET and if the action does not bring any conclusion then we will take up a protest.
Meanwhile, on the walkout, BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan said, "The work to implement NEET was started during the UPA government when Congress and DMK were in an alliance. Also, NEET has not affected reservation or social justice in the state.”
