After a tussle between the ruling government and the Governor, senior DMK leader K. Ponmudy has been re-inducted into the Tamil Nadu Cabinet. Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi administered the oath of office to Ponmudy in the presence of Chief Minister M.K. Stalin at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai on Friday.


According to ANI, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi administers oath to DMK leader K.Ponmudy as a minister in the state cabinet.






A press release from Raj Bhavan said, "The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu has recommended to the Hon'ble Governor of Tamil Nadu to induct Dr. K. Ponmudy, in the Council of Ministers allocating the subjects Higher Education including Technical Education, Electronics, Science and Technology currently held by Thiru R.S. Rajakannappan, Minister for Backward Classes Welfare."

"The Hon'ble Governor has approved the recommendation. The Swearing-in-Ceremony of the Minister Designate will be held today 22.3.2024 at 3.30 PM at Raj Bhavan, Chennai," it said. 


On Friday, Tamil Nadu Governor R N Ravi has agreed to invite DMK leader K Ponmudy for his swearing-in ceremony as a minister, Attorney General R Venkataramani informed the Supreme Court, emphasizing that the governor has no intention of disregarding the court's directives. Venkataramani told a three-judge bench led by Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud, stating that the governor has extended an invitation to Ponmudi to take oath as a minister at 3:30 pm.


Ponmudy has won as an MLA six times till now and has contested 8 Assembly elections since 1989.














He penned a book titled "Dravidian Movement in India and Black Movement in the U.S.A."
