Edappadi K Palaniswami, Tamil Nadu Opposition leader and AIADMK General Secretary met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president JP Nadda in New Delhi on Wednesday. After the meeting, EPS said that the AIADMK-BJP alliance will continue.
On Wednesday, Edappadi K Palaniswami flew to New Delhi to visit senior BJP leaders including Amit Shah and JP Nadda. Along with EPS and AIADMK leaders, Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai was also present. This is the first time Annamalai and EPS were seen together after their rift due to alleged poaching.
On Thursday, EPS talking to reporters said, "AIADMK has no issues with TN BJP chief Annamalai. If we had a rift then how will Annamalai campaign for AIADMK in Erode (East) by-polls."
"In an alliance, all will strive to develop their party. AIADMK is not a slave to do everything told by them as it is, we have an ideology and we function based on that. AIADMK is an independent party. We are not like DMK alliance who never question each other," he said.
However, it may be recalled that Tamil Nadu BJP president Annamalai said that he would resign as the president of TN BJP if the party continues its alliance with AIADMK for 2024 Parliamentary elections. The sudden announcement of Annamalai created a flutter in the party including the leaders who attended the state-level meeting in which he made the announcement.
On Thursday, taking to social media, Annamalai said, "Tamil Nadu Opposition leader and AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami and AIADMK leaders met BJP National President JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi."
