Chennai: Madras High Court granted bail to former AIADMK Minister Jayakumar in a land grabbing case on Friday. With bail granted in all three cases, the Minister will be released from prison soon.

According to a report on ABP Nadu, the Madras HC ordered bail to former Minister D Jayakumar in the land grabbing case. 


However, the Court has told the former minister to remain in Trichy cantonment area and appear at the station for the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, the former Minister was arrested in three cases including for holding a protest by violating COVID-19 norms, attacking, disrobing and parading a DMK cadre at a polling booth and for grabbing land worth Rs 5 crore due to a land dispute.


In the first case, the Minister was given bail in the last week of February.  The AIADMK was leader already given conditional bail in a case related to attacking a DMK member at a polling booth in the first week of March. On March 3, the case came up for hearing before Justice AD Jagadish Chandira who said the bail would be provided with the stringent conditions and he should also file an affidavit stating that he would not do any such offenses in the future.

In the land grabbing case, Jayakumar was named in case along with his daughter Jayapriya and her husband Naveen. They were booked under six sections of IPC. 


Jayakumar has been in jail since Feburary 21.
