Chennai: A delegation of BJP leaders including BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi and Tamil Nadu BJP chief Annamalai met Opposition leader Edappadi K Palaniswami and former TN Chief Minister O Panneerselvam at their residences amid a pending decision over the support of BJP in Erode (East) Byelections. The meeting has also come a day after the two camps of AIADMK fielded two candidates, Ex-MLA KS Thennarasu for EPS camp and Senthilmurugan for OPS camp.


On Friday, BJP State President Annamalai met AIADMK leader Edappadi Palaniswami at his Chennai Greenways residence amid the pending decision of BJP on Erode East bye-election.






After the meeting, Annamalai along with BJP National General Secretary CT Ravi met AIADMK leader O Panneerselvam (OPS) at his residence in Chennai.

After Edappadi K Palaniswami announced that AIADMK would contest in the bypolls, O Panneerselvam also announced that he would field a candidate in the elections for AIADMK. Against this backdrop, Edappadi Palaniswami announced former AIADMK legislator K S Thennarasu as the candidate while OPS camp announced B Senthil Murugan as the candidate for their camp. 


However, OPS also said that he would withdraw the nominations if BJP fields a candidate. Yet, till now, BJP is yet to clear the air over fielding a candidate of its own or extending support to one of the two AIADMK camps. Therefore, BJP state president is expected to clarify the stand after the meeting on Friday.
