A day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) seized 15 immovable properties owned by DMK MP Raja in the name of benami company under the provisions of PMLA 2002, DMK leader TKS Elangovan ridiculed the central agency for being unable to enter the house of a BJP persons. The DMK leader alleged that the Centre was using the machinery only against the Opposition parties. 


On the action initiated against A Raja by ED, DMK leader TKS Elangovan said, "...They will do all those things...They could not enter the house of a BJP person...They use all those machinery only against opposition parties..."

On Thursday, the Enforcement Directorate took 15 immovable properties owned by former union cabinet Minister A Raja in the name of his Benami Company M/s Kovai Shelters Promoters India Pvt Ltd under the provisions of PMLA 2002 in the matter of disproportionate assets case of A Raja subsequent to conformation of Provisional Attachment order. 






During his tenure as Union Minister of Environment and Forests from 2004 to 2007, Raja reportedly granted environmental clearance to a real estate company in exchange for illicit "kickbacks". The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has alleged that he received these kickbacks covertly disguised as land commission income, through a Benami Company that he had established, as reported by India Today.

 





The central agency stated that immovable properties are valued at approximately Rs 55 crore. 


A Raja currently serves as a Member of Parliament representing the Nilgiris Lok Sabha constituency on behalf of the DMK.
