Chennai: The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance's (NDA) presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu is expected to visit Tamil Nadu and Puducherry to garner support from their alliance partners on Saturday. The visit of Droupadi to meet leaders of AIADMK-led alliance partners in TN and the AINRC-led alliance partner in Puducherry comes after the meeting of the Opposition's presidential candidate Yashwant Sinha with DMK and alliance leaders in Tamil Nadu on Thursday.
According to a report on The New Indian Express, Droupadi Murmu will be visiting Chennai between 3 pm and 5 pm on Saturday. In Chennai, she is expected to meet leaders of AIADMK, PMK, BJP and TMC at a hotel in Chennai.
Murmu will then fly to Puducherry to meet the Union Territory's Chief Minister and AINRC president N Rangasamy and other leaders at a hotel.

In Puducherry, BJP is in alliance with AINRC and a few independent members. While three independent members have extended support to BJP, three other members who are on the side of AINRC are yet to make their support public.

As of the elected representatives in Tamil Nadu, AIADMK's 66 MLAs, four Rajya Sabha MPs and lone Lok Sabha MP, PMK's five MLAs and a Rajya Sabha MP, BJP's four MLAs and TMC's lone Rajya Sabha MP extend their support to Murmu.
Meanwhile, if elected Droupadi Murmu will be the first tribal leader to contest for the presidential post. She also holds the record for being the first tribal woman Governor in India.
