In January, Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi became the first governor to skip certain portions of the text on his customary address to the Assembly. After the incident, DMK's Shivaji Krishnamoorthy said, "If he (TN Gov RN Ravi) refuses to utter the name of Ambedkar in his Assembly speech, don't I have the right to assault him? If you (Gov) don't read out the speech given by Govt, go to Kashmir&we'll send terrorists so that they'll gun you down."

During the same time, DMK organising Secretary RS Bharathi also made a controversial comment against TN Governor. RS Bharathi asked that DMK has people like Sekar Babu and if CM had gestured his eyes then would the Governor have gone home. The leader also said that Governor ran away from Assembly after his speech.

Following this, BJP's Narayanan Thirupathy said, “It's DMK's culture. For the last 60 yrs, they've been using foul and filthy language and are known for it. It's in DMK's DNA.”

“Sivajii Krishnamoorthy and RS Bharathi had abused Gov RN Ravi & said they'll kill him. We wonder if DMK has any links with terrorists,” he said.
