Prime Minister Narendra Modi took aim at parties like the Congress and DMK during a public rally in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore ahead of Lok Sabha Elections 2024 on Wednesday. Accusing them of favoring familial interests over the welfare of marginalized communities, Modi criticized their governance approach. He accused the Congress and DMK of relying on falsehoods to maintain power and contrasted it with their unfulfilled promises.

While campaigning for Coimbatore BJP candidate Annamalai in Mettupalayam, PM Narendra Modi said, "Family parties like DMK and Congress have only one agenda, remain in the government by lying. Congress gave the slogan of eradicating poverty for so many decades, but poverty was not eradicated. This is the NDA government, which has brought twenty-five crore people out of poverty."

"These family parties think that apart from their sons and daughters, no poor or tribal can hold a high position. But BJP made a tribal woman the President of India for the first time and even at that time the I.N.D.I. alliance people strongly opposed this," he said.

Under the governance of the Congress party at the Centre, the Prime Minister remarked that states faced discrimination based on the party in power, whereas his government believes in fostering inclusive development. Further, PM Modi accused DMK of doing hate politics and not being interested in Tamil Nadu's development.

The PM said, "For decades, the Congress-DMK I.N.D.I alliance kept crores of people from SC-ST, OBC communities yearning for housing, water, and electricity because they thought that not everyone can get housing and electricity. But the BJP government gave PM Awas to crores of people, brought electricity to every village, gave free ration to 80 crore needy people and most of them are people from SC-ST, OBC communities."
