Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin declared one-day state mourning due to the Coromandal Train accident in Odisha which claimed 233 lives and injured 900 people. The CM also took stock of the situation at the State Emergency Operation Centre in Chennai. The DMK too cancelled the events scheduled on the birth centenary of former TN CM Karunanidhi on Saturday. 


According to ANI, " Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin takes stock of the situation at the State Emergency Operation Centre in Chennai."


Tamil Nadu Ministers including Udhayanidhi Stalin, Siva Shankar and Anbil Mahesh reached the Chennai airport on Saturday. All the Ministers are flying to Odisha for relief work.

At the airport,  Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said,  “We're going there to enquire for details. Tamil Nadu CM has spoken to Odisha CM. I will update you after reaching the spot. Hospital facilities are also ready for Tamilians in Tamil Nadu who got affected by Train accident.”

DMK cancelled the events scheduled on the occasion of the birth centenary of former CM Karunanidhi. DMK said, "DMK announces that all events scheduled in the state today for the birth centenary of former CM M Karunanidhi stand cancelled. The events have been cancelled to mourn the lives lost in the #BalasoreTrainAccident. Only CM MK Stalin would pay tribute to Kalaignar Statue and Kalaignar Memorial, the rest of all public meetings and events are cancelled."


"Public meeting of Secular Progressive Alliance leaders which was scheduled for this evening is postponed to another date and the date will be announced later," it said.
